Iran : Formation of the “Special Security Department” a further suppressive step

Iran : Formation of the “Special Security Department” a further suppressive stepNCRI – In a speech to West Azerbaijan Province’s Security Council, the Judiciary Chief of the mullahs’ regime, Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi, said in a threatening tone, “A special security department should be set up to combat insecurity and anti-revolutionary currents.” (daily Hambastegi, July 13)

He said, “Citizens rights are a different problem to espionage, rioting, insecurity, and insubordination. All the organs and apparatuses must act forcefully and expeditiously.” He added, “Anti-revolutionaries should not be given rights that are considered for other citizens.”

The call today by Shahroudi is the latest measure in the series of acts by suppressive organs of the regime in recent weeks to combat the explosive state of the nation and increasing public discontent, especially after the recent uprising in the Azeri regions.
