Wednesday, October 9, 2024: Execution of 7 Prisoners on World Day Against the Death Penalty; 267 Executions Under Pezeshkian

As Ali Khamenei sinks deeper into the quagmire of the war he primarily instigated, he has intensified the brutal and savage slaughter of defenseless prisoners. He vainly attempts to escape the flaring anger of the people and their uprising.

On Wednesday, October 9, on the eve of the World Day Against the Death Penalty, the regime’s executioners hanged six prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison and a 21-year-old prisoner named Mehdi Brahui in Zahedan Prison. Mehdi Brahui was under 18 at the time of his alleged crime. The prisoners executed in Ghezel Hesar were Ahmad Naruyi, 33, Mohammad Es’haqzahi, 31, Saeed Safaei, Mohammad Naruyi, Arman Hedayati, and Kamran Saqaei.

On Tuesday, October 8, three prisoners named Asghar Ghorbani, Soheil Habibollahi, and Yasin Amiri were hanged by Khamenei’s executioners in Shiraz Prison. On Sunday, October 6, in addition to the execution of Habibollah Mohammad Zahi, which was announced in the previous statement, another prisoner named Younes Piruzi was hanged in Ardabil Central Prison. On Saturday, October 5, Ashkan Yari was hanged in Hamedan Prison.

Thus, since last July and the inauguration of the new president of the religious fascism ruling Iran, the number of executions has reached 267. On October 8, Pezeshkian, in defense of these brutal executions, mockingly said that those who “talk about human rights ask why you execute a murderer.”

Last week, at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi called on the international community to support the resistance’s campaign against executions and to make diplomatic and trade relations with the mullahs’ regime conditional on stopping executions, terrorism, and hostage-taking by the dictatorship ruling Iran. She also called for holding the regime’s leaders accountable for committing genocide and crimes against humanity.
