Call for Immediate Action to Save the Lives of Political Prisoners

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the regime’s judiciary sentenced three political prisoners—Farshad Etemadi-Far, Masoud Jamei, and Alireza Mardasi (Hamidavi)—each to two death sentences and one year of imprisonment after two years of torture and solitary confinement. Two other political prisoners, Saman and Davood Hormat-Nejad, were sentenced to 12 and 15 years in prison, respectively.

These criminal sentences were issued by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz, presided over by judge Adibimehr, in a joint case on charges of “enmity against God (moharebeh),” “gathering and collusion against national security,” “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK),” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Farshad Etemadi-Far, a 30-year-old from Basht in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, was arrested on June 16, 2023, in the village of Pichab Basht along with Saman and Davood Hormat-Nejad. Masoud Jamei, a 47-year-old teacher, and Alireza Mardasi, a 52-year-old teacher of Arab ethnicity, were arrested in August 2023 in Ahvaz. Farshad had previously been arrested in 2018 in Gachsaran and spent 20 months in prison. Masoud suffers from stomach cancer, liver disease, high blood pressure, and severe internal infections.

Ali Khamenei is futilely attempting to prevent the eruption of public outrage, the people’s uprising, and the overthrow of the despised system of Velayat-e Faqih through execution and imprisonment sentences against the valiant children of Iran. These brutal executions and criminal verdicts only further strengthen the resolve of rebellious youth to overthrow the religious fascism.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN Security Council, the High Commissioner, the Human Rights Council, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, as well as other relevant UN bodies, the European Union, and its member states to take immediate action to save the lives of the prisoners on death row and to secure the release of all political prisoners.
