At Least 100 Were Wounded in Isfahan, and More Than 300 Arrested

The Peoples Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday afternoon that at least 100 people and youths were wounded when the suppressive forces attacked the protests yesterday. Some 300 were detained and arrests are continuing.

Video clips show the repressive forces opening fire on the demonstrators near the Khajoo Bridge in Isfahan. Many of the wounded have been shot in the face and eyes. However, clashes between the people of Isfahan and the repressive forces continued until late into the night in different parts of the city. Demonstrators gathered in different locations and chanted “Death to Khamenei and death to the dictator.” The sound of gunfire could be heard in different parts of the city.

A terrified Yousef Tabatabai Nejad, Khamenei’s Friday prayer leader in Isfahan, said yesterday: “We have repeatedly said that when these demonstrations continue, the (MEK) will appear. Well, they did today. When we have internal enemies … and they are looking for opportunities … They are definitely the MEK group.”

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed Isfahan’s arisen people and wished those wounded quick recoveries. She said: The mullahs’ criminal regime has made massive arrests during the Isfahan uprising. I urge everyone to protest against the detentions and as a patriotic duty lend support to the families of those arrested. I call on the United Nations, all its member states, and international human rights organizations to take urgent action to secure the release of those arrested in Isfahan.
