Iran: Nationwide Truck Drivers Strike Continues for 2nd Day

On Wednesday, May 23, Iranian truck and heavy vehicle drivers continued their strike for the second day. The striking drivers continues to refuse to move their vehicles and load goods.

The drivers began their strike on Tuesday in protest to the deterioration of their livelihood, low freight charges, high costs of logistic and vehicle stalls, and tariffs.

Truck and heavy vehicle drivers in 93 cities in 25 provinces across Iran joined the strike on Tuesday.

The provinces included: West Azarbaijan, East Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Isfahan, Ilam, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Sistan and Balouchestan, Semnan, Fars, Qazvin, Kerman, Gilan, Mazandaran, Markazi, Hormozgan, Hamedan, Yazd and Bushehr.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, saluted the striking truck drivers and heavy vehicle drivers, and called on all the people to support them.
