Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, in a message of solidarity with the striking truck drivers, stated that as long as this regime remains in power, poverty, discrimination, and corruption will only increase. The only path forward is protest and resistance to establish democracy and the people’s sovereignty.

Truck drivers in various cities across the country have stopped working since this morning, Thursday, May 22, 2025. Their strike began on Monday, May 19, 2025, when dozens of trucks ceased operations in Bandar Abbas and, by Thursday, had spread to other cities including Tabriz, Kermanshah, Shiraz, Arak, Sirjan, Ilam, Qazvin, Abbasabad, Darreh Shahr, and Parviz Khan in Kermanshah.

Truck drivers, by gathering at terminals and loading zones, reaffirmed their unity in reclaiming their violated rights. No one is showing up at the terminals to load goods, and trucks are noticeably absent on many transit routes. The drivers are protesting against a reduction in diesel fuel quotas, skyrocketing insurance costs, inadequate freight rates, and more.

Truck drivers have declared: the regime must understand that it cannot play with the fate of truckers and their families. The nationwide strike on May 22 is a warning that must be taken seriously… Today, the trucks are silent, but the voices of the drivers are echoing louder than ever.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, praised the striking truck drivers, describing them as hardworking individuals who endure the most difficult conditions despite their grueling, round-the-clock labor. They are courageously declaring that they will no longer tolerate injustice, and through unity and protest, will not allow the blood of their colleagues spilled in the Bandar Abbas tragedy to be forgotten. Mrs. Rajavi added that as long as the clerical regime remains in power, poverty, discrimination, corruption, inflation, and unemployment will worsen daily. The only path forward is protest, uprising, and resistance to establish democracy, justice, and the people’s sovereignty.
