Uprisings and Protests in Different Cities for the Third Consecutive Night
People Chant “Death to Khamenei”

For the third night running, the outraged people took to the streets, protesting against the soaring prices and the plundering policies of the clerical regime in many cities, including, Khorramabad, Ardabil, Borujerd, Dehdasht, Dorud, Shahinshahr, Junqan, Farsan, and Cholicheh in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, on Friday evening, May 13, 2022. In many of these cities, demonstrators chanted, “Death to Khamenei.”

In Shahinshahr, enraged youths set fire to a state building next to the State Security Force (SSF) station. In Borujerd, people demonstrated in the streets of the city chanting, “Guns, cannons and tanks, mullahs must go.” The youth resisted the attacks of the repressive forces, shouting, “Shame on you.” In Ardabil, defiant youths clashed with repressive agents and continued to protest, despite their attacks. In many cities, such as Borujerd, Dorud, and Farsan, the regime’s repressive forces opened fire to quell the people’s uprisings.

Friday night’s protests took place as the regime’s repressive forces launched an undeclared martial law in many of these cities, arresting many youths and protesters and cutting off or severely limiting Internet access. Also, the repressive forces were on standby in some areas. In Mashhad, the presence of SSF and intelligence forces in the city had increased. At the same time, the special forces raided people’s homes in Junqan and arrested dozens of young people. In Alavi alley and the Zargan region of Ahvaz, SSF forces arrested several young people.

The regime’s official news agency, IRNA, acknowledged the uprising in protest of the rising prices in various cities, including Tehran, Dezful, Andimeshk, Dorud, Izeh, Yasuj, Junqan, and Fashafuyeh, and wrote, “Andimeshk in Khuzestan Province, witnessed the gathering and chanting of slogans against the rise in prices, and also throwing stones at law enforcement agents. In Dezful, during the past two days, people gathered at the Shariati crossroads and chanted anti-state slogans.” Quoting the regime’s criminal prosecutor in Dezful, IRNA added, “Fifteen people who tried to riot in the city have been arrested.” It also reported seven arrests in Yasuj (southwest Iran).
