Nowruz,With Chants of “Death to the Dictator; Death to Khamenei; Death to the Oppressor, Be It the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei)”
On the 186th day of the nationwide uprising, suppressive forces fired shots at the people of Mahabad who were celebrating their Nowruz ceremony
To mark the 186th day of the nationwide uprising and the start of the Iranian year 1402, people in Tehran and many cities in Kurdistan, as well as Rasht and Borujerd, chanted ‘Death to Khamenei’ and ‘Death to the dictator’ on the evening of March 20 to welcome the new year.
In Sanandaj, the people chanted the slogans “Freedom, freedom, freedom” and “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei)”. Defiant youths brought down the sign of one of the Basij centers. In Bukan, a ceremony honoring the martyrs of the uprising was accompanied by the singing of national and revolutionary anthems. People lit fires and chanted “We shall not surrender and the path of the martyrs continues”.
In Saqqez, people gathered at the graveyard of Mehsa Amini, the martyr of the uprising, and sang revolutionary songs while chanting “Death to the dictator”. However, the regime’s suppressive forces attacked the people’s gathering. In Piranshahr, the people held the traditional New Year’s ceremony by lighting the fire of Nowruz and chanting “Martyrs will not die in vain”. Meanwhile, in Marivan they honored the memory of the martyrs of the uprising in that city.
Brave young people in Mahabad gathered in the street and chanted “Death to the dictator”. Repressive forces attacked the Nowruz ceremony of the people of Mahabad on Tuesday morning, injuring several of them.
In Tehran, on the eve of the New Year, the slogan “Death to Khamenei” and other anti-regime slogans echoed in different neighborhoods, including Seyed Khandan, Marzdaran, Shahr Ziba, and Shariati Street. In the first hours of the New Year, a number of families of imprisoned journalists gathered behind the walls of the women’s prison in Qarchak Varamin.
