Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 410 Cities Exceeds 98,300

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on September 2, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 410 cities across Iran had passed 98,300. The number of victims in Tehran is 23,865, Khorasan Razavi 6,969, Qom 4,585, Isfahan 4,425, Lorestan 4,300, Golestan 2,808, Alborz 2,803, Fars 2,752, Kurdistan 2,006, North Khorasan 1,554, Hormozgan 1,314, Bushehr 1,213, Qazvin 849, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 635.

As the toll for Coronavirus infections and mortalities continues to rise, today, Rouhani announced that “the school year opening ceremony will begin on Saturday, September 5.” He said, “There is no conflict between living, learning, and continuing with education. One can study while following all health protocols.” In another development, the Minister of Education Haji Mirzaei told Iran Press news agency today, “Students will have to be in schools this Saturday, regardless of their location’s status being red, yellow, or virus-free.”

Meanwhile, Minoo Mohraz, a member of NCCT, told the state-run daily, Asr-e Iran today, “Schools are the perfect place for Coronavirus transmission. By sitting indoor for a long time, even if people use masks, there is still a possibility of transmitting the disease.”
