Finally, after two years of buying time, deception and gaining major political, economic and security concessions from the European Union, the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran, in a blatant breach of the Paris Accord, formally resumed nuclear work at Isfahan UCF site.
At the same time, new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed a former Revolutionary Guards Commander Ali Larijani as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, put him in charge of the nuclear file as the chief negotiator with the EU.
Addressing today’s session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect emphasized, "Now, there is no longer any justification for delay and wavering in referring the mullahs’ nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council, particularly so because one of the main objectives of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in appointing a Revolutionary Guards commander and a terrorist, Ahmadinejad, as the head of the executive branch, was to put the country’s entire administrative, executive and economic resources at the service of ominous nuclear weapons projects."
"Resuming work at Isfahan facility and rejecting EU’s exceedingly generous offers is a clear snub to European countries and reflects the catastrophic failure of the policy of appeasing this medieval theocracy. It demonstrates that in the absence of a decisive international policy the mullahs’ are determined as never before to pursue the procurement of nuclear weapons," Mrs. Rajavi added.
She pointed out, "In the context of the two-year negotiations, the EU provided the best opportunity to the clerical regime to complete its nuclear projects, ignored Tehran’s increasing meddling in Iraq, did nothing in the face of flagrant violations of human rights in Iran and, at the behest of the mullahs, blacklisted the People’s Mojahedin, the backbone of Resistance against religious fascism. This policy gave assurances to Khamenei, enabling him to carry out the biggest purge within the ruling clique and consolidate power in the hands of the most extremist faction with impunity."
"Now, the European Union is facing a historic choice: The choice between democracy and dictatorship, between freedom and repression, between peace and crisis. Europe must abandon supporting the most ruthless dictatorship and the sole terror sponsor regime in our contemporary world, immediately end negotiations with the mullahs and refer their nuclear file to the Security Council, and remove the unjust terror tag from the People’s Mojahedin Organization," Mrs. Rajavi underscored.
