Iranian Resistance welcomes recalling of Canadian ambassador from Tehran

Iranian Resistance welcomes recalling of Canadian ambassador from Tehran and calls for firm international measures against widespread human rights violations in Iran

Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, chairman of the NCRI Foreign Affairs Committee welcomed the decision by Mr. Bill Graham, the Foreign Minister of Canada, to recall Canada’s ambassador from Iran in protest to the Iranian regime’s refusal to allow representatives of the Canadian government to attend a show trial on Zahra Kazemi’s murder case.

He called for a decisive policy against the widespread human rights violations in Iran and supported Mr. Graham’s proposition to refer this heinous crime to the International Court of Justice.

According to press reports, in response to the mullahs’ decision not to allow representatives of the Canadian government to attend the show trial of the murderer of Zahra Kazemi, the Iranian-Canadian photojournalist murdered in July 2003 by agents of the religious dictatorship ruing Iran, Canada’s Foreign Minister decided on 14 July to recall its ambassador from Tehran. Mr. Graham declared “This is completely unacceptable behavior on their part” and contrary to “all international law standards,” and he will refer the matter to the International Court of Justice.

The mullahs’ regime by resorting to deceit, has tried to cover up the role of the leaders of the regime in this murder for the past year, and therefore it is strongly opposed to the presence of international observers and representatives of the Canadian government at this kangaroo-trial.
