Two months after barbaric missile attack on Camp Liberty entry of basic needs are still obstructed

ncri-statement

While it is almost two months past the deadly missile attack on Camp Liberty, the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress Camp Liberty residents continues to obstruct the entry of residents’ basic needs for minimum repair work.

On December 20 and 23, 2015, agents of this committee returned items bought by residents for the repair of damaged trailers such as nylon, fabric, wood glue, carpet glue, silicone sealant for waterproofing the roofs of trailers, paint, nails, screws, metal cut-off wheels, and welding electrodes. They are also barring entry of supplies such as bicycle parts and insecticides.

This antihuman measure by the suppression committee ongoing since the October 29 missile attack is despite the fact that a considerable number of trailers have been destroyed or rendered unusable and other trailers need serious repair work before they can be used in the cold season.

These suppressive measures are flagrant violations of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UNAMI and the Government of Iraq on December 25, 2011, as well as egregious violations of human rights and humanitarian standards and many international covenants.

The Iranian Resistance reiterates the commitments of the international community regarding the security and wellbeing of Camp Liberty residents and calls on the U.S. government, the European Union, and the United Nations to take urgent action to lift the siege on Camp Liberty.
