Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the successful relocation of the last 280 members of exiled Iranian opposition group Mujahedin e-Khalq out of Camp Liberty in Iraq:

“The successful relocation of the last families from Camp Liberty marks the beginning of a new and hopeful chapter for families who have suffered terrible persecution and violence.

“For years, the precarious position of the families in Camp Liberty presented an urgent humanitarian challenge for the United States and the international community.  It is a great credit to Secretary John Kerry and the State Department’s persistent leadership that new homes have been found for all of these families.

“The United States will remain vigilant in protecting the human rights of these families and persecuted peoples throughout the world.”
