Woman hanged by her mother-in-law in Iranian prison

A woman who allegedly had killed her husband has been hanged by the man’s mother on Wednesday at a prison in Iran at the presence of judicial authorities who described the execution as legal.

The prisoner, named only as S.T., was being held in the city of Amol for killing her husband during a family fight.

The 28-year-old fled after being attacked by her husband with a knife in a street, but after he caught her again, she killed him in the ensuing struggle, according to reports.

The city’s prosecutor Ali Talebi was quoted by the state-run Fars News Agency as saying the mother-in-law of the prisoner carried out the death sentence. He added: “This execution was done with full legal process.”

On April 19, Hassan Rouhani, the regime’s president described the anti-human and anti-Islamic executions in Iran as “God’s commandments” or “laws of the people”.

Speaking to commanders of the Iranian regime’s State Security Forces, he said: “when someone is condemned to death and he comes to the gallows according to the law, then we have no right to insult him as he is being taken to the gallows… in any case, the law has condemned him and he is punished… It is either the commandment of God or a law approved by the parliament that belongs to the people and we only execute it “

More than 700 have been executed in Iran during 2013, 2/3 of which occurred during Rouhani’s tenure.
