Iran: Prison guards pour boiling water on prisoner

The repressive guards at a prison in Iran tortured a prisoner by pouring boiling water on him causing severe burns and preventing him from receiving treatment.

The torturing of Mr. Gholamreza Shahbazi occurred last Saturday (November 1, 2014) at Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj as prisoners were attacked on the order of the prison authorities.

Mr. Gholamreza Shahbazi, who has been suffering from kidney problems and has been deprived of access to medical care, was severely burned as guards poured boiling water on his legs.

The Special Forces at prison attacked the inmates as they protest harsh conditions in the prison.

The attack was commanded by Mardani, the head of the prison who ordered for the prisoners to be denied any of their basic needs and medical treatment.

In line with intensifying repressive measures to increase fear and intimidation and to prevent Iranian people from expressing public dissent against the clerical regime, the authorities in Iranian prisons have also stepped up repressive measures in prisons across the country.
