NCRI – Due to a severe bone pain, the Evin political prisoner Seyed Mohammad Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi has been twice taken to the prison’s healthcare unit during the past few days, only to be returned to his ward without receiving a proper treatment.

Despite constantly suffering from numerous health problems during the past ten years, Mr. Boroujerdi has been denied a proper treatment and temporary leave, being kept under inhumane pressures in Evin Prison’s special clerical ward.

In this regard, a source close to Mr. Boroujerdi’s family said that “due to the lack of proper treatment facilities in Evin’s healthcare center, Mr. Boroujerdi has only thrice received painkiller injections, which has not been effective. Following the deterioration of his health conditions, he was once again taken to the prison’s healthcare unit on Sunday, only to receive the same medication of painkiller injections as the days before which unfortunately had no effect on reducing his pain. The prison doctor believes that Mr. Boroujerdi must be suffering from lumbar disc disease.

Mr. Boroujerdi has written a letter to the Special Clerical Court, asking to be taken to a well-equipped hospital outside the prison and saying that they are directly responsible for his life, but unfortunately the prison and court officials refuse to meet his demands.”

The source also stressed that “due to his bone pain, Mr. Boroujerdi’s health conditions are such that his family were shocked when they met him on Saturday November 5. The political prisoner has been denied a proper treatment for ten years. He has been under overwhelming tortures during interrogations, as a result of which he is now suffering from heart and respiratory problems as well as severe osteoporosis. He’s also been suffering from bone pain for months so that his waist and legs are deformed and he can hardly walk. Nevertheless, no effective measure in this regard has been taken so far by the prison officials.”
