NCRI - On Saturday, October 1st, the Iranian regime security forces arrested dozens of supporters of a cleric critic of the government in Tehran. According to reports, the regime's security forces attacked the ceremony of the 40th day of passing away of a relative of Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi and arrested a number of the participants.

They also photographed the car plates of the mourners and aggressively and violently dealt with and encountered the participants.

Several people were beaten severely by security forces at the memorial place and at least 3 of them lost consciousness.

According to eyewitnesses, “The detainees were even interrogated at the same place; they were then taken to an unknown location by minibus. Their devices, including computers and cell phones, were also seized.”

Until now, no information is available on the detainees’ fate and whereabouts.

The families of the detainees requested information on the status of the arrested by visiting security and police stations. They did not receive any answer other than “we do not know.”

They also staged protest gathering on Monday, October 2, in front of the security police headquarters in Shahr-e Ray.

Mohammad Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, a cleric critic of the regime, has recently taken a sick leave from the prison due to illness. At the same time, the regime has banned his visits with his supporters.

It should be noted that recently the pressure on Ayatollah Boroujerdi has increased. Since the beginning of this year, he has been summoned to security institutions or the Special Clerical Court and interrogated on three occasions on April 15, August 8 and September 11.

Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi, who was arrested and imprisoned in 1995, 2000, and 2005, was last arrested in 2006 and sentenced to 11 years in prison, including confiscation of his property.

He was held at Yazd prison for one year and then transferred to Evin prison’s ward 325 which is specialized for the imprisoned clerics.
