Iran - Mashad, Executing, the Inhuman Punishment of Hand Amputation of a Youth, Charged With Theft

NCRI - Iranian attorney general in the Khorasan Razavi province , Gholam Ali Sadeghi, announced the hand-amputation of a person charged with theft, Sadeghi stated: this man had rubbed a jewelry six years ago, when he was 25 years old in Mashad.

The state run Khorasan press agency reported on October 12 that, according to Sadeghi, the court ruling was hand amputation for the 25 years old youth, and 10 years imprisonment and 74 lashes for his younger brother who was 22 years old.

Iran: A Letter by a Prisoner's Family to UN Special Rapporteur

NCRI - The family of a Kurdish political prisoner, in a letter to Ms. Asma Jahangir, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, called for clarification of her son's situation in the Iranian regime’s prison.

In their letter, the family refers to the torture and mistreatment and lack of any news about the fate of their son as well as regime prohibiting them from hiring a lawyer for him.

Iran: Another Inmate Chained to the Flagpole

NCRI - A prisoner who objected lack of a bed to sleep on in the prison was taken to the prison yard by Ardebil prison authorities and chained to the flagpole in cold weather after beating and mayhem.

The prisoner, named Behnam Amiri, is sentenced to three years in prison for robbery. He was transferred from youth section to ward 5 of the prison, and was beaten by the prison authorities after protesting the lack of bed to sleep because of the high number of prisoners and crowded prison.

ON THE WORLD DAY AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY

In a message on the World Day against the Death Penalty, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, paid tribute to 120,000 executed political prisoners, including the 30,000 killed in the 1988 massacre. She said, “The Iranian Resistance espouses the abolition of the death penalty in Iran after the overthrow of the clerical regime and rejects the inhuman punishment of retribution as being against the spirit of mercy and compassion in Islam.”

Former Ambassador Encourages Haley to Act Further Regarding 1988 Massacre in Iran

NCRI - Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, Ken Blackwell, has written a letter to Nikki Haley, the current Ambassador, last week. He urged her to investigate the 1988 massacre that happened in Iran.

During the massacre, around 30,000 political prisoners were executed during the course of one single summer following a fatwa that was issued by the Supreme Leader at that time Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The aim was to wipe out the opposition to the Iranian regime.

Iran: Hunger Strike by Prisoner Under Torture

NCRI - An inmate who was subjected to beating and torture in central prison of Ardebil – Northwestern Iran, for two weeks has staged hunger strike in protest.

According to reports, the prisoner, Moslem Shiri, has begun his hunger strike since October 2nd in protest to the continued use of torture by the prison officials.

Iran: Sixty-Ninth Day of Hunger Strike by a Political Prisoner After 24 Years Imprisonment

NCRI - A political prisoner in Gohardasht prison in Karaj is on the sixty-ninth day of his hunger strike. Mohammad Nazari, Kurdish political prisoner, has been on hunger strike to protest his legal status and Iran regime’s failure to address his situation. One of his requests is his transfer to a prison in Iranian Kurdistan province such as Mahabad or Orumiyeh. He has fallen unconscious several times during the hunger strike and the prison officials have not done anything about the prisoner's requests.
