The 94th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has been observed in 54 prisons across Iran, with the men’s ward of Zahedan Prison joining the movement. The campaign coincides with the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising, honoring those “who were slaughtered by the oppressive government.”
The campaign statement recalls decades of struggle, noting, “From the rise of the dictatorship of Velayat-e Faqih in February 1979 to the November 2019 uprising, from 2019 to the nationwide protests of 2022 and until today, the people of Iran have walked a costly path toward freedom and human dignity.” It adds, “Decades of suppression, discrimination, and killings have not silenced the people’s determination for liberation and freedom.”
The movement highlighted the dire situation of political prisoners, including Reza Abdali, an Ahvazi Arab facing a death sentence, stating, “We demand the immediate cancellation of this sentence and the end of the cycle of death in Iran’s prisons.”
"More than 20 Olympic medalists, coaches and other international athletes, including the tennis player @Martina and the swimmer @sharrond62, have signed a letter calling for a halt to the execution of a boxing champion and coach, who is on death row in #Iran," @sajajohnson writes… pic.twitter.com/M7kcSb6jRy

In other developments, two political prisoners, Ehsan Afreshteh and Mehdi Farid, were transferred from Ward 7 of Evin Prison to an unknown location after being beaten. The statement warned that, “Although political prisoners tried to prevent this transfer, there are fears that their death sentences will be carried out.”
The campaign emphasized the human cost of repression, pointing to tragic self-immolations: the death of Kourosh Kheiri, an education department driver in Khorramabad who set himself on fire after being fired, and Ahmad Baledi, a student from Ahvaz who self-immolated after his family’s kiosk was demolished in protest. The statement describes these acts as “painful examples of the voiceless cries of people who, under pressure and humiliation, find only their own lives to protest.”
The statement underscores the scale of the regime’s crackdown: “From the beginning of Aban [October 23] this year until now, 165 people have been executed; last week alone, 72 people, including one woman, were executed, and on October 31 and November 1, 29 people lost their lives on the gallows.” Official statistics show that “since the beginning of Persian calendar year 1404 [March 2025], more than 1,313 executions have taken place in Iran, a horrifying number that reflects the normalization of death under injustice.”

The campaign calls on all consciences to act, asserting that “no government can silence the loud voice of truth, justice, and freedom with executions, and we urge all awakened consciences to turn the cry of ‘No to Execution’ into a loud wave in every city and street.”
Prisoners continue their protest with popular support. In the 94th week, the men’s ward of Zahedan Prison joined the No to Execution Tuesdays’ campaign, with inmates in 54 prisons nationwide participating in a hunger strike, including Evin, Ghezel Hesar, Karaj, Tehran, Qarchak, Khorramabad, Ahvaz, Shiraz, Zahedan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Urmia, and many others.
The campaign remains a powerful symbol of resistance against the regime’s unrelenting cycle of executions, repression, and human rights violations in Iran.
