Nine Baha’i citizens summoned to serve prison terms for following their faith

Iranian authorities have summoned nine Baha’i citizens to begin prison terms after convicting them of security crimes for peaceful activities including proselytizing for the Baha’i faith.

On April 6, nine Baha’i men and women were summoned to serve their prison terms in Alborz Province, west of the capital Tehran. They were told to present themselves within five days to serve their sentences.

Seven Iranian Bahais detained in Shiraz, southwestern Iran

Seven Iranian Bahais were detained on the evening of April 6 in the south-central city of Shiraz. According to the Human Rights News Agency, the Bahais were identified as Saeed Etehad, Ghasem Masoumi, Siamak Henrour, Soroush Abadi, Sedigheh Aghdasi, Alieh Forutan, and Behrouz Farzandi Ardakani.

Man arrested in SE Iran for posting “fake video”

The Chief of Iran’s Cyber Police (FATA) in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan said on April 6, that its agents had arrested a citizen for “posting a fake video”.

According to the state-run Tasnim News Agency, the man/woman had posted a video on the internet, showing locals “attacking” a poultry farm in Nikshahr after an increase in poultry prices and scarcity of chicken.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 535 cities across Iran had exceeded 245,600. The number of victims in Tehran reached 56,421, Isfahan 16,030, Khorasan Razavi 15,845, Khuzestan 14,624, Mazandaran 10,480, East Azerbaijan 9,868, West Azerbaijan 9,221, Fars 7,217, Golestan 6,325, Alborz 6,108, Kerman 5,424, Central Province 5,108, Semnan 4,320, Kurdistan 4,247, North Khorasan 3,703, Ardabil 3,047, Zanjan 2,665, Bushehr 2,489, South Khorasan 2,391, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 1,980, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 1,894.

Jailed political activists denied phone calls in northeast Iran prison

Three jailed political activists who were imprisoned in the Iranian city of Mashhad after signing an open letter calling on Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to resign have been denied phone calls.

Authorities in Vakilbad Prison have told Kamal Jafari and Mohammad Hossein Sepehri that they are not allowed to make phone calls for three months beginning from March 31. The warden has imposed a ban to prevent information from leaking outside the prison by these prisoners.

A new wave of arrests of opposition supporters has begun in Iran. The Iranian regime has recently arrested several youths, including supporters and sympathizers of the Iranian opposition the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

Since the beginning of March, the regime has arrested some MEK supporters and released political prisoners. Among them are Alireza Hossein Reza (50-year-old) from Babol, Omid Akbar Abadi, (27-year-old) from Mashhad, Touraj Naghdi (23-year-old) from Borojerd, and Hassan Fallah (47-year-old) from Karaj.
