Iran Will Face New Sanctions for Supplying Missiles to Russia, Blinken Says
Iran will be hit with new sanctions Tuesday for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced.
Speaking at a joint news conference in London with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Blinken said he expected Russia would begin using the missiles against Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Blinken called Iran’s decision to transfer the missiles to Moscow “a dramatic escalation.”
“We’ve warned Tehran publicly, we’ve warned Tehran privately, that taking this step would constitute a dramatic escalation. Dozens of Russian military personnel have been trained in Iran to use the FATH-360 close-range ballistic missile system, which has a maximum range of 75 miles. Russia has now received shipments of these ballistic missiles and will likely use them within weeks in Ukraine,” Blinken said.
E3 Foreign Ministers’ Statement on Iranian Transfers of Ballistic Missiles to Russia
The governments of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom strongly condemn Iran’s export and Russia’s procurement of Iranian ballistic missiles. This is a further escalation of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and will see Iranian missiles reaching European soil, increasing the suffering of the Ukrainian people. This act is an escalation by both Iran and Russia and is a direct threat to European security.
The E3 has privately and publicly been clear that we would take new and significant measures against Iran if the transfers took place. We now have confirmation that Iran has made these transfers. We will be taking immediate steps to cancel bilateral air services agreements with Iran. In addition, we will pursue the designations of significant entities and individuals involved with Iran’s ballistic missile programme and the transfer of ballistic missiles and other weapons to Russia. We will also work towards imposing sanctions on Iran Air.

U.S. Envoy Blames Iranian Regime for Red Sea Tensions Amid Environmental Threat
On Monday, September 9, U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, highlighted the Iranian regime’s role in escalating tensions in the Red Sea, during an interview with Al Arabiya. Lenderking expressed concerns over the environmental threat posed by the Greek tanker “Sonion”, which has been at risk following an attack by Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemeni waters.
He warned that an oil spill from the damaged tanker, carrying nearly one million barrels of oil, could cause devastating environmental damage to Yemen’s marine ecosystem. Lenderking also urged the Houthis not to target the ongoing salvage operations aimed at preventing further disasters.
His comments follow previous attacks by Houthi forces on rescue ships attempting to extinguish the fires aboard the tanker. On Tuesday, the European Union Naval Mission monitoring the Red Sea raised alarms about the dire conditions preventing the safe towing of the tanker, warning of an unprecedented ecological catastrophe in the region. The continuing threat from Houthi forces has severely hampered efforts to contain the potential spill and secure the safety of commercial shipping routes in the area.
EU Says It Received ‘Credible’ Reports That Iran Sent Ballistic Missiles to Russia
The European Union said Monday its allies had shared “credible” intelligence Iran had supplied Russia with ballistic missiles, a claim rejected by Tehran but not explicitly denied by the Kremlin.
US media outlets reported last week that Washington believed Iran had transferred the weapons to Russia for use in Ukraine, citing anonymous sources.
“We are aware of the credible information provided by allies on the delivery of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia,” EU spokesman Peter Stano said.
“We are looking further into it with our member states and if confirmed, this delivery would represent a substantive material escalation in Iran’s support for Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.”
Gulf Countries Concerned About Iran’s Nuclear Program
The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have expressed concern over the development of Iran’s nuclear program, according to a joint statement issued after a ministerial meeting in Riyadh, News.Az reports.
“The Ministerial Council expressed the GCC’s concerns regarding developments in the Iranian nuclear file, asserting the importance of expediting constructive understandings between Iran and the concerned states regarding the nuclear issue to safeguard regional security and stability,” the statement said. The ministers also pointed to the importance of Iran’s compliance with its commitments on the level of uranium enrichment and Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
US Forces Destroy Houthi Drones, Missile Systems
US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces have announced the destruction of drones and missile systems of Houthi rebels in Yemen.
“In the past 24 hours, U.S. Central Command forces successfully destroyed three Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicles and two missile systems in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen,” the CENTCOM posted on X, News.Az reports.
The CENTCOM said it had determined that these systems presented a clear and imminent threat to U.S. and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region.
“These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels,” it added.

Alireza Golipour: A Life of Resistance and Sacrifice
Alireza Golipour, a prominent political prisoner and supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in Tehran due to heart disease. His death marks the end of a long struggle against oppression and injustice in Iran. Golipour was pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering when he was first arrested in 2009. This arrest was likely related to his involvement in pro-democracy activities and his support for the PMOI/MEK, a prominent opposition group in Iran.
In 2012, Golipour was arrested for a second time and sentenced to 15 years in prison. The charges against him included supporting the PMOI and exposing the Iranian regime’s nuclear activities. However, some sources indicate that his sentence was even harsher, with reports of a 39-year prison term and 74 lashes. During his imprisonment, Golipour faced severe health challenges:
The Last Arrow In The Iranian Regime’s Quiver
The parallel impacts of political, social, and economic developments in Iran are pushing the country toward the inevitable moment when Iranian society must resolve its fate with the tyrannical regime of the mullahs.
The regime itself continually notes this thought in the mirror of the country’s political, social, and economic events and is deeply afraid of its implications. In their statements and writings, the regime’s political commentators and economic experts describe the alarming state of the government’s political and economic fate, offering constant warnings.
Former interior minister Mousavi Lari said, ” [President Masoud] Pezehkiyan was the last arrow left in the regime’s quiver, and if even this fails, I say it will be catastrophic. ”
The Destruction of Iran’s Education System under The Mullahs’ Rule
In political culture, reactionism and regression refer to an approach or system that opposes progress and the necessary evolutionary changes in social, economic, and political foundations. A reactionary is one who waits for the opportunity to return to the past periods of history and its obsolete traditions. One of the indicators of a reactionary and anti-science regime is its educational system and the teaching methods under its control. The more unfortunate aspect of these reactionary regimes is comparing them to certain elements of past societies, which, despite their shortcomings, were sometimes more beneficial than the current regimes in modern times. For example, traditional schools, despite their low quality and poor performance, are now considered superior compared to the education system under the religious fascism ruling Iran. We’ve often heard that in these old schools, children were punished with sticks and parents did not object. However, in the 21st century, the level of violence and corporal punishment in schools under the clerical regime has escalated to the point of causing permanent physical injury to students, leading to confrontations between parents and regime officials in schools. Ultimately, this has led to students becoming disillusioned with school, making it one of the main problems in the education system.
Iran’s Regime: A History of Oppression and Terrorism Abroad
Since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979, the Iranian regime has directed significant resources toward suppressing its critics and opponents, particularly those residing in Western countries. Over the past 45 years, the regime has systematically employed various tactics—ranging from intimidation to outright violence—against dissidents abroad. Its strategy has evolved over time, adapting to changes in the global political landscape and the growing opposition within the Iranian diaspora.
In the years following the 1979 revolution, a significant wave of Iranian migration to the West occurred, spurred by political repression and the regime’s increasingly hardline policies. Many of these exiles became vocal critics of the regime, leading to the formation of a robust opposition abroad. Faced with this growing external dissent, the Iranian government’s foreign policy and security apparatus shifted its focus to controlling and neutralizing these critics.
Nikki Haley Warns of Iranian Regime’s Terrorist Acts and Election Interference
Former U.S. presidential candidate Nikki Haley issued a stark warning about the Iranian regime’s terrorist activities and interference in American affairs during a CBS interview on Sunday, September 8. Haley, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, revealed disturbing details about threats to her personal safety and the integrity of the electoral process.
Haley disclosed that she was among the targets of an Iranian-backed assassination plot in the United States. She emphasized that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had conducted a private briefing with her to discuss the Iranian regime’s attempts to meddle in U.S. elections through campaign interference.
Suicide Crisis in Iran: From Violence and Poverty to Pressure on Medical Professionals
On World Suicide Prevention Day, we examine the growing suicide crisis in Iran, particularly focusing on the challenges women and girls face under the clerical regime. Many Iranian women and girls feel they have no choice but to resort to suicide due to immense social and economic pressures. More than 13 people in Iran commit suicide daily, with the majority between the ages of 15 and 35. According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, 100,000 people attempted suicide in 2018. On average, 125 Iranians per 100,000 people attempt suicide, with six losing their lives.
This year, beyond the tragic suicides among young people and women, we are witnessing the alarming phenomenon of suicides among medical residents (medical students), nurses, and doctors.
Former Iranian Political Prisoner Dies of Wounds Caused by Security Forces
According to social media reports, Sara Deldar, a former political prisoner from Rasht, has died after suffering from infections caused by pellet wounds. Ms. Deldar was hit by pellet bullets by Iranian regime security forces during the nationwide protests in 2022 in Rasht for helping the injured. After her arrest, she was sentenced to one year, three months, and six days in Lakan prison in Rasht. She was released on probation after serving more than six months.
In her last Instagram post on July 21, she mentioned contracting an infection in her body after being released from prison and being hospitalized. She referred to physical weakness, severe anemia, and the enlargement of her spleen, kidneys, and ovaries as some of the problems she was facing.
A New Wave of Protests in Iran
On September 9, Iran witnessed a new wave of protests that spread to several provinces, with demonstrations focusing on living problems and the failure of the Iranian regime’s companies to fulfill their promises to retirees. Retirees from the telecommunications company held a protest rally to express their anger at the Execution of Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, which supervise the company, for not fulfilling their promises to provide the necessary financial rights. The demands centered on restoring their legitimate rights and improving their financial conditions.
The Execution of Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), as the main shareholders in the pension fund, operate under the direct supervision of the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. The intervention of these institutions, aimed at securing funding for regional intervention projects and exporting terrorism, has led to a significant deterioration in the conditions of retirees. Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards sought to control all of Iran’s resources, including the pension fund, to finance their interventions, resulting in widespread poverty and greatly angering the people.
