Sunday Protests in Iran

Another day passed and numerous groups of Iranians had to gather and rally to make their voices heard and protest that they’re living a discriminated and neglected life.

  • A group of construction material sellers held a protest rally in Tabriz, Northwestern part of the country.

  • This morning, a group of bakers in Semnan, East of the capital held a rally in front of the governor’s office to protest the current market circumstances that is hurting their income and livelihoods.

  • On Sunday, a group of retirees and pensioners of the Khuzestan Steel Pension Fund gathered in front of the fund’s building in Ahvaz. These retirees want their livelihood and legal demands to be met.

  • Drivers of Sabzevar Steel in Khorasan Razavi province gathered and went on strike protesting the negligence by the officials and their policies that is hurting their work.
  • Also today, a number of people who fell victim to a scam by the Azerbaijan Automobile Industrial Company (AZIVICO) held a rally in front of the courthouse. Despite the promises of the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade, no particular action has been taken in the Azovico case so far, and the judiciary continues to refuse to hear the case.

  • Also this morning, graduated students gathered in front of the regime’s Ministry of Education and protested against unemployment and the violation of their rights. According to reports, security forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, but they were met with resistance from the activists.

Saeed Afkari Has Been Beaten and Taken into Custody

According to sources from inside Iran, Saeed Afkari, Iranian slain wrestling champion Navid Afkari’s brother, was beaten and arrested by six undercover agents on Sunday, September 12, as soon as he arrived in Shiraz. Security forces have also beaten Elham Afkari, his sister, who was trying to get her brother loose and she was thrown on the ground. Saeed’s whereabouts are yet unknown.

Iran: On Anniversary of Navid Afkari’s Execution, His Murderer Would Be Embraced by UN?

September 12 marks the first anniversary of the execution of Iran’s wrestling champion Navid Afkari. Yet, on September 20, the world community would allow a man involved in his execution, Ebrahim Raisi, to address the United Nations, General Assembly.
Navid Afkari was arrested during the major Iran protests in 2018 in Kazeroun along with his two brothers. Navid was falsely accused of killing a security guard based on a confession extracted under the month of torture. Navid had denied having killed the security guard and appealed to the Judiciary.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday, September 11, 2021, that the COVID-19 death toll in 547 cities had exceeded 418,000. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 98,216, Khorasan Razavi 32,925, Isfahan 27,560, Khuzestan 25,651, Mazandaran 15,980, Fars 14,989, East Azerbaijan 14,923, West Azerbaijan 14,733, Gilan 14,475, Lorestan 14,260, Alborz 12,238, Qom 11,510, Kerman 10,937, Golestan 9,715, Hamedan 7,993, Kermanshah 7,264, Hormozgan 7,195, Kurdistan 6,562, Ardabil 5,255, Qazvin 4,604, Zanjan 4,115, Ilam 4,063, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 3,205.

Government-Linked Institutions in Iran Do Not Pay Taxes

Financial corruption is institutionalized in Iran’s regime

For several years now, the regime has been meager cash handouts as a subsidy to the low-income branches of the society. This is about $1.70 a month. In any country, subsidies should belong to deprived people. In Iran, however, these subsidies have practically gone into the pockets of government-linked entities. According to regime officials, the subsidies that have been given to the people to this point are far less and merely 20 percent of the subsidies provided to government institutions. Another subsidy that has practically failed is 42,000 rials government-dollar (each USD is being exchanged at about 280,000 rial in the market).

August Iran Protests Report: 3,568 Protests

According to collected reports by sources affiliated with the Iranian Resistance in August, there were at least 3,568 recorded protests. Most of the protests in August were from the oil industry workers which amounted to 3,389 protests in 36 cities.
