On May 31, 2025, Gianna Gancia, Member of the State Parliament of Piemonte and former Member of the European Parliament, addressed the international Free Iran conference to call for decisive European leadership against the Iranian regime’s nuclear ambitions. The event brought together political leaders, lawmakers, and Iranian Resistance supporters from around the world to back the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its Ten-Point Plan for a democratic future.

Gancia reflected on her long-standing commitment to the Iranian Resistance, beginning with her visit to Camp Ashraf years ago and continuing through her time in the European Parliament, where she hosted President-elect Maryam Rajavi in Strasbourg. She warned that the Iranian regime’s nuclear program has been fueled by decades of deceit and remains a growing threat to global peace.

Gancia called for the European Union, specifically the E3 countries, to invoke the snapback mechanism to restore UN sanctions and demand the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. She stressed that a zero-uranium enrichment policy must be non-negotiable.

She concluded by honoring those who have sacrificed in the struggle for freedom and urged continued resistance, affirming that freedom is the most precious value — and without it, humanity loses its meaning.

The following is a translated version of the speech.

It is an honor to be here to witness with you this important moment for freedom.

My journey with the Iranian Resistance began many, many years ago in Ashraf, where I was able to witness your vitality and your unshakeable spirit. I then continued my commitment during my term in the European Parliament, and I had the privilege of hosting Mrs. Rajavi at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where I also observed Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which endanger and threaten peace.

The Iranian regime’s race to develop nuclear weapons has been marked by two decades of deception. Despite the recent talks with the United States — which Khamenei himself called dishonorable — Tehran’s ambitions remain completely unchecked.

Therefore, uranium enrichment must stop. Europe cannot afford to be misled by the regime’s tactics.

The E3 group must activate the snapback mechanism to restore UN sanctions and apply meaningful pressure on Iran to dismantle its nuclear program.

A zero-enrichment policy is not negotiable. Only resolute action can secure a free Iran — one that is no longer, as it is now, a threat to global stability.

When I say Europe must act, I say this directly to my colleagues: I mean Europe as a force distinct from Washington or Moscow. It must take the lead.

Let us unite for a free Iran, where peace and democracy can once again flourish.

And now, let us honor the men and women who have fought for this cause up to now.

I know it has been hard, and I know it will continue to be hard — but we must go on.

Above all, you must go on, because freedom is the most precious thing we have.

And we too, in our own countries, must continue to fight for it — because without freedom, man is not man.

Thank you.
