German Delegation Meet With Maryam Rajavi at Her Residence in France

On January 18, a number of German politicians met Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise, northwest of Paris.

The delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, the former Speaker of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag), and included former Federal Parliament Members and the mayor of Frankfurt, Martin Patzelt, and Stephanie Bung, the Vice-Chair of the Christian Democrats (CDU).

During the past 10 years, German parliamentarians and personalities have been active in the campaign to protect the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)  before they relocated to Albania in 2012 from Iraq. Since the relocation, Prof. Süssmuth has also several trips to Ashraf-3, Albania to meet the MEK members.

At the latest meeting with Maryam Rajavi, Prof. Dr. Süssmuth praised the Iranian Resistance and its continued campaign against the repression and mounting executions in Iran and reassured that the German Parliament will continue to support this effort.

She discussed women’s roles within the Iranian Resistance and lauded Mrs. Rajavi “for taking major strides towards women’s advancement and promotion within the ranks of the Resistance.”

During the meeting, the Iranian regime’s nuclear was also discussed. Mr. Patzelt, while referring to the revelations made by the Resistance about Tehran’s nuclear program, said, “If we support your struggle, it is because this is our struggle. You endeavor to prevent the regime’s access to nuclear weapons, and this is what all the people of the world want. You have created an international front against fundamentalism, and this is very important and crucial.”

Mr.  Rajavi lauded Prof. Süssmuth for her efforts in protecting the residents of Camp Ashraf and in support of democracy and human rights in Iran.

She said, “Now that the regime cannot attack the Mojahedin as it did in Iraq, it has stepped up its terrorist and demonization campaign against the PMOI/MEK abroad.”
