Farid Soleimani, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NCRI, called on the international community to adopt a decisive policy vis-à-vis the clerical regime in Iran and its referral to the UN Security Council.

Dr. Alireza Assar, Iranian nuclear physicist and a university lecturer and Dr. Monouchehr Fakhimi, a geology professor and discoverer of uranium ore in Yazd, central Iran, contributed to the conference.

Based on a confidential report by the Supreme National Security Council of the Iranian regime, Soleimani reiterated that the two-year negotiations between the mullahs and the European Union provided the regime with ample time to proceed with its nuclear program and at the same time gain concessions from the Europeans. The rise of the most conservative faction of the regime to power was a direct result of EU’s policy of appeasement of the mullahs and huge concessions to the regime, he added.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presidency completed the plan by Ali Khamenei, the regime’s supreme leader, to bring the most important ruling organs under the control of the Revolutionary Guards Corps. The plan pursued three objectives; increase suppression inside the country, step up its efforts to export fundamentalism and terrorism especially to Iraq, and expedite its nuclear project to acquire nuclear weapons.

On the bases of his experience and work on Iranian nuclear project, Dr. Assar emphasized that the mullahs are intent to acquire nuclear weapons. While Iran, an oil rich country, relies on imports of refined oil and petrol for much of its domestic consumption, it would have served the country’s interest far better if its wealth were to be invested on oil industry rather than nuclear, Dr. Assar noted.

Dr. Fakhimi also said that all indications point to the fact that the regime is determined to acquire nuclear weapons and Iranians resent mullahs being armed with these weapons.
