NCRI – Intelligence sources from the West have shown that an Iranian military base that is being set up in Syria will be a permanent one. Yesterday, new satellite images were released as proof of Iran’s new venture in Syria.

The building work is continuing as seen in the satellite imagery. It is so far unconfirmed that the construction will lead to a military base, but evidence strongly points to this hypothesis.

Iranian regime has been involved in the Syrian civil war since the very beginning and it has propped up Syrian President Bashar al Assad and his forces. If it were not for the interference of the Iranian regime, the Syrian civil war would have ended many years ago.

Iranian regime has recently boasted about it victories in Syria and Iraq, and it now appears that the next country on the list is Lebanon. The Iranian regime already has significant influence in Syria and Iraq and its goal of regional hegemony is still strong.

Leaders from the international community have warned that Iran will not stop at anything in its quest for regional hegemony. The Prime Minister of Israel is one of the ones that is warning about the Islamic Republic and vowed that his country will never let Iran establish itself in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump has also been very outspoken about Iran’s belligerence, even from before he took office. He has been highly critical of the Iran nuclear deal that was agreed in 2015. He said that the deal was badly negotiated and criticised President Obama’s treatment of Iran.

Former President Obama was so keen to leave the Iran nuclear deal as his legacy that he went to great efforts to appease the Iranian regime, so much so that Iran got exactly what it wanted from it.
Iran was in such a dire position at the time of signing the nuclear deal and the United States had a lot of leverage over it. However, with the concessions given by Obama and the subsequent lifting of crippling economic sanctions, all leverage was lost.

Iran has been belligerent in more ways than its nuclear program. It has been firing ballistic missiles and provoking the United States and its allies.

However, one huge concern is its complete and blatant disregard of human rights. It is supressing the people of Iran who are fed up with the ruling regime. The people simply want democracy and freedom but they are being denied this in the cruellest of ways. Political prisoners are being executed and people are persecuted based on their religion.

There is no freedom of press and the Iranian regime is arresting and imprisoning dual nationals that visit Iran for professional reason or even during family visits. Prisoners in Iran are denied fair trials and access to legal professionals.

The Iranian opposition is working hard to change this and to give the Iranian people what they deserve. They need to be supported by the international community.
