“We want to see a firm policy from the UK government on Iran” and for it to “support the Iranian Resistance,” Mr. Jim Fitzpatrick, a Member of Parliament from the United Kingdom, said in meeting of a delegation of British parliamentarians meeting with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, in Paris on Friday.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was among the members of a cross-party delegation that expressed its full support for the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK) at Camp Liberty, Iraq, and urged the UK and US governments as well as the UN Security Council to guarantee the safety and security of the Camp Liberty residents until the departure of all of them from Iraq.

Regarding the clerical regime in Iran, Mr. Fitzpatrick said: “The Iranian government still stand accused of many human rights crimes. The arrests, imprisonment, torture and execution of opponents continues. The number of executions continue. Public executions continue. The death penalty being imposed on juvenile offenders continues.”

The British lawmaker told the participants: “I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to join you here today not only because of what’s happening inside Iran, but because of what Iran is doing to the rest of the region,” adding, “We want to see a firm policy from the UK government on Iran. In our Parliament, we want to see our government standing firm. And we want to support the Iranian Resistance.”

Referring to a joint statement by more than 200 cross-Party members of both Houses of Parliament supporting the Iranian Resistance, Mr. Fitzpatrick said: “This statement shows there are many, many more colleagues in the UK Parliament who will continue to support the NCRI and the 10-point statement of Madam Rajavi” for a democratic Iran.
