Iran: International women's day marked by protest gatheringsNCRI - The International Women's Day was marked by protest gatherings in two major parks in central Tehran today.

Women chanted "freedom, freedom" in Daneshjou and Laleh park gatherings despite harsh measures imposed by the regime's security forces. To prevent women to assemble, the suppressive forces surrounded the area forcing people to disperse.

Iran: Protest against ban on women to watch football games NCRI - Women protested on Wednesday against a ban which prohibits them from going to football matches.

A group of Iranian girls held a banner in front of Tehran's Azadi football stadium which read, "We do not want to stand 'off side,' we want to be along with our brothers in the national soccer team" pressing the authorities to allow them into the stadium.

Iran closes newspaper and bans women's publication

Press in IranReuters - The Iranian government on Monday ordered the closure of a daily newspaper and banned a new women's bi-weekly from publication in the first media crackdown since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office in August.

"The Supervisory Board on the Press agreed to the temporary closure of Asia newspaper and Nour-e Banovan and ordered their cases sent to court," said the Culture Ministry in the ban, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters.

Iran: A teenage girl to be executed

ImageNCRI - A 19-year-old girl is to be executed in Iran according to Aftab state-run daily. Delara Darabi has been alleged to have murdered a woman when she was 17. Her death sentence was issued by a clerical court in the city of Rasht (northern Iran) and endorsed by mullahs' high court despite her denial of committing the crime.

She is a painter and engaged to a man who is sentenced to imprisonment for his involvement in the alleged crime.

Iran-Iraq: Mullahs' meddling in Iraq condemned by women in Iraq

Irqi womenNCRI – Iraqi women warned Iranian regime on Monday not to interfere in their country’s internal affairs on Monday. Women from Diyala province called for active participation of Iraqis in upcoming elections on December 15 in a bid to combat Islamic fundamentalist threats from Iran.

In their gathering on Monday, women activitsts called on the international community to help prevent Iranian regimes’ plans to influence the result of the elections on Thursday.

Iran-stoning: Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning

Agence France Presse, TEHRAN, October 15 - An Iranian women found guilty of having an extra-marital affair with an Afghan and being an accomplice in the murder of her husband has been sentenced to death by stoning, a press report said Saturday.

The Shargh newspaper identified the woman by her first name of Soghra, and said the killing took place in the Varamin district south of Tehran.

The woman's lover, only identified as Ali Reza, was sentenced to death for committing the murder.
