Iran: The Minimum Wage for Workers Is Four Times Lower Than the Poverty Line

Only the overthrow of the clerical regime and the establishment of the popular sovereignty will end the suffering of the workers and the working people

The clerical regime’s Supreme Labor Council, set the minimum wage of workers for 2018 as one million and 114 thousand tomans (about $220 a month). Meanwhile, according to Hadi Aboui, the head of the Supreme Centre of Workers Associations, the basket of workers’ livelihood, based on the data of the market, the evaluation of the prices, the state of the households and the shrinkage of the workers' table, that was presented to the Supreme Labor Council, is three million and 700 thousand tomans, which is more than three times the minimum wage set by the regime (Aftab governance site - April 3, 2018).

Iran: Spread of Protests by Ahvaz Residents to Other Cities of Khuzestan Province

A large number of protesters arrested; call for their release

On Thursdays and Fridays, March 29 and 30, the rallies of Iranian Arab citizens in Ahvaz and other cities of Khuzestan continued to protest the repressive and discriminatory policies of the clerical regime.

Police mercenaries and anti-riot guards threw tear gas and attacked demonstrators in the city of Kut Abdullah with batons and opened fire at them. Clashes between people and repressive forces continued for hours.

Suppressive forces attacked protesters and arrested some of them

Today, Thursday, March 29th, thousands of Ahvaz residents rallied in protest against the insult of the ruling religious fascism television against fellow Arab countrymen, and chanted slogans against the mullahs’ regime’s brutal suppression and discrimination against the people of Ahvaz and Khuzestan. Yesterday, a large crowd of Ahvaz residents protested outside the state radio and television center.

Iran: Atrocious Murder of a Prisoner Under Torture in Ahvaz, and Arresting More Than 30 Protesters

On Monday, March 26, 2018, an Arab minority named Ali Savari, a prisoner in Shayban Prison in Ahvaz, died due to violent tortures. Released images of the body of this prisoner that show plenty of ruptures, bruising and burns due to flogging and electric shock, and the presence of cavities on his head and chest, indicate the severity of the torture imposed on this defenseless prisoner. Ali Savari was 50 years old and was a resident of the Ahvaz Sepidar district.
