Iran: Flogging Sentence for a Young Kurdish Female Student

The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran condemns the flogging sentence issued for a young Kurdish female student and calls on the Iranian women and youth to protest against such criminal verdicts.

The NCRI Women’s Committee urges international human rights and women’s rights organizations to undertake effective measures to stop such cruel and inhuman punishments.

NCRI Women's Committee Condemns the Assassination of Two Syrian Women Activists in Istanbul

While condemning the cowardly assassination of Orouba Barakat and her daughter Hala, the two Syrian women who were killed in their home in Istanbul by knife attacks, the Women's Committee of the NCRI offers its condolences to the Syrian opposition, in particular Syrian brave women. Many news agencies attribute this assassination to Assad's dictatorship.

Iran: Regime Officials Admit Their Antagonism Towards Gender Equality

Following the adoption of UNESCO's Education 2030 Framework for Action, which underlines priority of gender equality in education and calls on member states to ensure equal opportunities for women and men, the clerical regime's leaders and officials made comments, vividly demonstrating the medieval and misogynous nature of the regime.

Khamenei, the mullahs' supreme leader expressed his strong opposition to signing the document. He said, "These are not things that the Islamic Republic could shoulder or give in to." (The state-run media, May 7, 2017)

The NCRI Women's Committee Condemns the Iranian Regime's Banning of Female Athletes' Competition on the Bogus Charge Of "Failing to Observe Islamic Codes"

In an appalling measure, the clerical regime deprived five female Iranian athletes for one year from participating in all national and international tournaments for "failing to observe Islamic codes" while participating in China's Open billiard competitions.

This is part of the clerical regime's policy against Iranian athletes, particularly women.

NCRI Women's Committee Calls for Urgent Action to Free Activist Mother, Shahnaz Akmali

The Women's Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran issued a call on international human rights and women's rights organizations, women's rights activists, the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, and on the UN Special Rapporteur on Arbitrary Arrests, to undertake urgent and effective measures to free Ms. Shahnaz Akmali, mother of a young man killed by security forces in the 2009 uprising.

Iranian women's struggle to eliminate violence against women is intertwined with the struggle for regime change in Iran

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Women's Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran salutes the freedom-loving women who have defied the state-sponsored violence against women and carry on with their struggle for regime change in Iran. The Women's Committee also commemorates those women who gave their lives in this confrontation with utmost courage.
