Iraq\u2019s Diyala province has strongly denied claims attributed to him by the Iranian regime\u2019s agents against the residents of Camp Ashraf, stressing that the residents must be treated in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n<p>Camp Ashraf is home to about 3,400 members of the main opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release posted on the province\u2019s official site, Dr. Abdol-Nasser al-Mahdawi, the Governor of Diyala, where Camp Ashraf is located, said, \u201cAllegations against the PMOI that are quoted in the media and attributed to me are completely devoid of truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not commented in this regard,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocal officials in Diyala reject all forms of human rights violations and underscore the imperative of treating humanely and decently the residents of Camp Ashraf on the basis of international laws, because these residents are unarmed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Mahdawi added, \u201cThe issue of Camp Ashraf is exclusively under the purview of the federal government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He called on Iraqi security forces to act in accordance with international and Iraqi law when dealing with the residents of Camp Ashraf in order to avoid bloodshed,
