The rising number of executions were a matter of grave concern for the participants, in particular, the threat of political prisoners massacre in the wake of the regime’s growing isolation within Iran and in the international scene. <\/p>\n
Zamani, a member of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran was secretly executed in Gohardasht prison, west of Tehran, on February 7 after four years of imprisonment. Two weeks after his execution, the prison authorities have so far refrained from handing over his body to his family. <\/p>\n
Panel of speakers in the Paris gathering included, Patrick Baudouin, honorary president of the International Federation of Human Rights; Bishop Jacques Gaillot, a distinguished French philanthropist figure; Monsef Marzoughi, representing Arab Human Rights Committee; Gilles Paruelle, Lawyer and former president of Val d’Oise province Bar Association; Pierre Bercis, president of the French New Human Rights; Renee Le Mignot, deputy chair of MRAP; and Dr. Saleh Rajavi, NCRI representative to France and Switzerland. <\/p>\n
The meeting was chaired by Behzad Naziri, a former political prisoner who has a good knowledge of prisons in Iran and the kind tortures used by the regime to break the resolve of the prisoners. <\/p>\n
