{"id":10678,"date":"2011-05-30T10:12:59","date_gmt":"2011-05-30T09:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/10678-father-of-hanged-political-prisoners-writes-to-ban-ki-moon"},"modified":"2023-01-13T22:21:04","modified_gmt":"2023-01-13T21:21:04","slug":"father-of-hanged-political-prisoners-writes-to-ban-ki-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/father-of-hanged-political-prisoners-writes-to-ban-ki-moon\/","title":{"rendered":"Father of hanged political prisoners writes to Ban Ki-moon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"edam-esfahan-thumb\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-37494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/05\/edam-esfahan-thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"200\" style=\"margin: 5px;float: left\" \/>NCRI &#8211; The father of two young political prisoner has written to the United Nations Secretary General, requesting a visit by a UN delegation to investigate the Iranian regime\u2019s killing of his two sons.<\/p>\n<p>Bijan Fathi, whose sons Abdollah and Mohammad were hanged by the regime on May 17, wrote to Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, saying, \u201cThe hanging was so swift that it leaves no doubt that the country\u2019s judicial and security officials wanted to use it to score political and security points and continue to instill an atmosphere of fear and terror in order to implement their goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Fathi added, \u201cIn view of the atmosphere of dictatorship and security in Iran, many families lose their children by hanging under hollow pretexts, and sadly there has been no legal action taken so far.
