NCRI \u2013 A majority of the members of Parliament in Luxembourg have supported a call on the United Nations to protect Camp Ashraf. Below is the translated text of the declaration:<\/p>\n
The Iranian regime is attempting to curb growing widespread protests by the Iranian people through the use of violence, state suppression, widespread arrests, and rising political executions, including those of families of residents of Camp Ashraf, where members of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) reside and which is a point of hope for the Iranian people.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u2022\u00a0In view of the inhumane siege on the residents of Ashraf, who are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0In light of the persistent aggressions by Iraqi forces and the Iranian regime\u2019s agents against Ashraf, which are examples of war crimes;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0In view of the fact that on April 15 the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay strongly condemned an attack by Iraqi security forces which led to the deaths of 35 opponents of the Tehran regime in Camp Ashraf;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0In view of the fact that the Iranian regime is the main obstacle to democracy in the region and is trying to divert the democratic uprisings toward fundamentalism;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Since the PMOI is the antithesis of fundamentalism and extremism owing to its belief in a tolerant and democratic Islam<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0In view of the third option as proposed by Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, which is the democratic coalition, a solution that rejects appeasement and foreign military intervention and considers democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and Resistance as a solution to the Iranian issue,<\/p>\n
The majority of the Parliament calls on the government of Luxembourg to seek to enact the following:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Referring the dossier of suppression and human rights violations in Iran to the UN Security Council for the imposition of effective sanctions against the ruling regime and not the Iranian people;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Assumption of the protection of Camp Ashraf by the UN and stationing of a permanent team of UN observers in Ashraf with the full support of the US and the EU;<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Recognizing the Iranian Resistance against the religious tyranny and considering dialogue with the NCRI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
