The harassment and persecution they face smacks of a desperate government attempt to stave off social unrest that could arise from new hikes in the costs of fuel and power to which Iranians are now being exposed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty International pointed out the arrest, imprisonment, and torturing of Mansour Ossanlou, president of Bus Drivers Union of Tehran and Suburbs and called for his unconditional release.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also quoted members of the Iranian Teachers\u2019 Trade Association as saying that they will not be defeated by the Iranian government\u2019s extreme intimidation, and called for solidarity of teachers around the world in their struggle for their rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &ndash; Amnesty International issued a statement and called for an end to repression of the workers&rsquo; unions as well as to banning and harassment of independent trade unions in [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":36816,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[15],"tags":[175],"class_list":{"0":"post-10763","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-human-rights","8":"tag-updated"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
