–\u00a0Considering popular uprisings in Iran against the ruling religious dictatorship and the people\u2019s demonstrations and courageous resistance against government repression;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Considering the widespread arrests and the sharp increase in the number of political executions including execution of relatives of Iranian dissidents residing in Ashraf –who are the beacon of hope for the people of Iran — in order to prevent uprisings\u2019 spread;<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Considering blockade of Ashraf residents who are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention, their psychological torture day and night through installing hundreds of loudspeakers,\u00a0 and violent attacks by the Iraqi forces and the Iranian regime\u2019s proxies on April 8 that left 36 people dead and 350 wounded which constitute \u201cwar crimes\u201d;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Considering that the Iranian regime is the main obstacle for peace, stability, and democracy in the region that works to thwart the freedom-seeking uprisings of the region in favor of Islamic fundamentalism;
–\u00a0Considering that by believing in a patient and democratic Islam, the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) is the anti-thesis of fundamentalism and extremism;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0And considering the third option presented by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance –the democratic Iranian opposition coalition– that brings within sight the democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and the Iranian Resistance:<\/p>\n
The majority of the Senate calls on the Italian government to enact the following:<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Referring the dossier of repression and violation of human rights to the United Nations Security Council and imposing effective sanctions against the Iranian regime;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Working with the U.S. government and the United Nations to withdraw Iraqi military forces from Ashraf;
–\u00a0Immediate medical treatment of those wounded in the recent attack;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Ending the siege of Camp Ashraf;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Guaranteeing an independent investigation of the April 8 attack and dealing with those responsible for the crime;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Guaranteeing the protection of the camp\u2019s residents and recognition of their status as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention;<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Preventing forceful relocation of Ashraf residents inside Iraq, and supporting the European solution (Straun Stevenson\u2019s Solution);<\/p>\n
–\u00a0Recognizing the Iranian Resistance against the ruling religious dictatorship, and resuming the dialogue with the National Council of Resistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
