This call comes after the announcement of US forces\u2019 withdrawal from Iraq by President Obama and also Iraqi forces\u2019 preparations for an attack against the camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By revealing the Iraqi government\u2019s obstructions in the peaceful process to resolve the issue of Ashraf, this conference requested the UN Secretary General\u2019s urgent intervention and the stationing of a permanent UN monitoring team in Ashraf.<\/p>\n<p>The speakers at this conference were: Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance; General Hugh Shelton, former US Joint Chiefs of Staff (1997 \u2013 2001); Ed Rendell, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee (1999-2001) and Governor of Pennsylvania (2002 \u2013 2011); John Bruton, Prime Minister of Ireland (1994 \u2013 1997) and the Ambassador of European Union to the US (2004-2005); Lord Peter Mendelsohn, European Union Commissioner (2004 \u20132008) and UK Deputy Prime Minister (2009); Robert Torricelli, US Senator (1997 \u2013 2003); Romeo Florin Nikoara, Romanian Senator; Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Le Garrett, Mayor of Paris 1st district; Jean-Pierre B\u00e9quet, member of the Valdoise Provincial Council and mayor of Auvers-sur-Oise.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, was the keynote speaker at this conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"IHAL26300\" class=\" size-full wp-image-38289\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2011\/11\/IHAL26300.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IHAL26300.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IHAL26300-300x79.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Iranian Resistance and Ashraf residents have been and are ready for any option other than annihilation and surrender,\u201d she said. \u201cHowever, the Iraqi government upon the orders of the Iranian regime has opposed all international proposals and efforts regarding Ashraf, obstructed the UNHCR\u2019s process and transfer of Ashraf residents, and by setting a repressive deadline and attempts to relocate Ashraf residents is on the verge of massacring all of them. The fact is that the Iranian regime has only two options for Ashraf residents: surrender or massacre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the Iraqi government leads all avenues to a dead-end, one cannot remain in apathy,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi added. \u201cThe relocations experienced during the NAZI\u2019s rule must not be repeated,\u201d she said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the US forces\u2019 withdrawal from Iraq does not remove this country\u2019s responsibility regarding the protection of Ashraf residents. \u201cThe time of sitting aside has come to an end,\u201d she said calling on the US, EU, UN and Arabic Union. \u201cYou must firmly demand the cancellation of the Iraqi government\u2019s lethal deadline, stand against its decision to relocate Ashraf residents by force, and make a decision in the Security Council to have UN monitors and blue-helmets station in Ashraf until the residents\u2019 complete resettlement.
