Sanctions are necessary but the ultimate solution to the mullahs’ regime nuclear weapons program is supporting Iranian people’s struggle for regime change<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

NCRI – Following the EU Council of Ministers\u2019 decision of enforcing oil sanctions against the mullahs\u2019 regime, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Iranian Resistance welcomes today\u2019s decision of the Council of Ministers and calls for the urgent and immediate implementation of these sanctions. For over two decades, the Iranian Resistance has called for comprehensive oil and financial sanctions against the religious and terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWhile the clerical regime is all out to obtain nuclear weapons, a five-month delay in putting these sanctions in full force provides a significant amount of time for this regime to implement its ominous plots.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive sanctions and their immediate implementation are an essential and indispensable component to stop the nuclear weapons project of the mullahs\u2019 regime and must be completed as soon as possible. However, in conditions where the international community\u2019s soft approach in the past years has brought this regime much closer to gaining a nuclear bomb, sanctions are not the ultimate answer to this regime\u2019s projects. The final solution is to change the mullahs\u2019 regime; a regime that considers obtaining nuclear weapons as part of its strategy for survival and will never relinquish this objective. Therefore, sanctions are only effective if they are complemented with supporting the Iranian people\u2019s struggle for regime change.<\/p>\n

The truth is that the policy of appeasement and engagement with the mullahs\u2019 regime attempts to weaken and postpone the adopted sanctions, or reduce its seriousness by providing exceptions based on political and economic expediencies.<\/p>\n

The other side of the coin in this policy, is the US and international community\u2019s reneging their commitments regarding the protection of Ashraf residents and insisting on continuing the illegitimate terror tag against the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran in the U.S. This designation has weakened the international community\u2019s will to show determination against the central banker of terrorism.<\/p>\n
