The United Nations envoy to Iraq Martin Kobler has &#8216;blood on his hands&#8217; and should resign after the deadly mortar attack on Camp Liberty which killed six and left at least 100 injured, former US congressman Patrick Kennedy has said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_profilepage&amp;v=f8eorMrLVUo\">Click here to watch the video<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And America must not stand idly by while more innocent Liberty residents are murdered by the Iranian secret police and their collaborators in the Iraqi government, Mr Kennedy told a conference of 1,500 Iranian-Americans in Washington DC on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>It was not enough to expect the UN to deal with the crisis &#8211; the US must keep its promise to protect those inside Liberty, and return them as soon as possible to the relative safety of Camp Ashraf, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kennedy added: &#8220;All of us here in Washington DC can not stand by with the word of this country being violated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Liberty is a hoax.\u00a0 We need an action plan today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need the United States to come out today and say they are for protecting Camp Liberty.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s not make any mistake about it.\u00a0 This cannot be laid off on the United Nations.\u00a0 The United States has a responsibility to those six people who were killed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kennedy recalled how Mr Kobler&#8217;s former advisor Tahar Boumedra quit after an agreement last year between the UN and Iraq to protect Liberty and improve squalid living conditions was not honoured.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed by Mr Kobler, Mr Kennedy said, adding: &#8220;We know now that the blood of those innocent martyrs that were killed last night are on Martin Kobler&#8217;s hands today.\u00a0 Today, today Martin Kobler ought to resign his position at the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <!--[if gte mso 9]&gt;
