NCRI \u2013 The people of Iran began to celebrate \u00a0the traditional Fire Festival (Chaharshanbe-Suri) on Tuesday\u00a0despite a heavy presence of State Security Forces and extensive repressive measure by the regime to prevent them.<\/p>\n

Karaj:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the celebrations in Karaj, a member of Bassij forces wanted to arrest a young man carrying firecrackers but people intervened and stopped him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn another incident the SSF agents on motorcycles tried to arrest to young men but people prevented them. \u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cThe forces continued to patrol the area but since they could not do anything they stayed away from people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahwaz:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn Kian Pars street, people clashed with State Security Forces .\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Malayer:<\/p>\n

\u201cA large crowd took part in the celebrations.\u00a0 At first people planned to hold the celebration in a park in the city. The regime\u2019s forces closed the park. People held celebrations in streets and districts. Despite heavy presence of the forces he celebrations were held.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urmieh:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the city\u2019s main square people protested the presence of State Security Forces and plainclothes agents. They set ablaze three a number of city\u2019s trashcans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tehran:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn Roodaki street the SSF stopped approaching people who are celebrating.\u00a0 Whenever they approached people called them \u2018traitors\u2019 \u2018mercenaries\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rasht:<\/p>\n

\u201cA large group of members of Bassij paramilitary force riding motorcycles entered the main city\u2019s square and attacked the people and youths who were celebrating.\u00a0 Skirmishes continued between the people and members of Bassij.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tehran, Saadat-abad district:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Saadat-abad district, the sounds of handmade explosives could be heard in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0Shiraz:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn Namazi and Mulla-Sadra streets a number of youths clashed with plainclothes agents of Iranian regime.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0Ilam:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPeople gathered in park around 19:30 local time. The SSF tried to disperse the crowd but people continued with the celebration. The SSF closed the park not to let others join the crowd in the park.\u201d<\/p>\n

20:30 GMT ————————————————————<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tehran, Hashemi Street:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cResidents of Tehran, particularly youths gathered in Hashemi Street and lit bonfires.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people throw firecrackers and jump over bonfires.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe security forces patrolling the area unsuccessfully tried to prevent the people to celebrate Fire Festival.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tehran, Lavasn District:<\/strong>
\u201cPeople lit very large bonfires. The sounds of firecrackers can be heard in all over the district.
The SSF patrols are afraid to approach people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tehran, 8:30 pm:<\/strong>
\u201cIn north Tehran, people throw fire crackers at a branch of a state bank in act of protest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahwaz:<\/strong>
\u201cThe city is very crowded. In Golestan area and Lashkarak Square and Rah-aahan the security forces fired shot in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n

Karaj:<\/strong>
\u201cAll the stores were forced closed by SSF by 7:30 pm local time.\u201d
\u201cThe sounds of firecrackers and handmade explosives can be heard in the city\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahwaz, Kian Pars district:<\/strong>
\u201cSSF tried to disperse the crowd but people ignored them and in some areas there were skirmishes with the security forces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zanjan:<\/strong>
\u201cThe celebrations have started from 5pm despite heavy presence of SSF.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shiraz:<\/strong>
\u201cIn Chamran street a SSF patrol car was set on fire. The units of Special Forces have been deployed in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tehran, Istanbul Intersection:<\/strong>
\u201cPeople in Neyshabour Square released balloon in the air. Some resident lit bonfires on the houses\u2019 rooftops. The sounds of firecrackers can be heard in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shiraz:<\/strong>
\u201cIn Chamran street, in Maali District, people chanted: \u201cDamn with the high prices, Damn with the mullahs.\u201d<\/p>\n
