The latest protests come after the regime brutally crushed gatherings of farmers in February this year.<\/p>\n
Violent scenes erupted two months ago in the city of Varzaneh when protesters set fire to three buses carrying state security forces.<\/p>\n
Several farmers were killed and injured, and at least 160 arrested, by the state’s SSF anti-riot squad troops at the time.<\/p>\n
They had accused the regime of turning the Zayandehrood River into a parched valley.<\/p>\n
The Zayanderood begins on the central plateau of Iran and supplies water to people in the central Iranian provinces of Isfahan and Yazd – but it has dried up over the past four summers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
