Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said on Thursday: \u201cNaturally, one of the main actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran\u2019s army is to step up security measures.\u201d<\/p>\n
“Inside the country all the barracks are ready to provide security for the election,” he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany army units are stationed at the border,\u201d he told state-run Fars news agency.<\/p>\n
The leaders of clerical regime are terrified of the prospect of a massive uprising similar to the nationwide protests during the 2009 election.<\/p>\n
Armed forces chief Seyed Hassan Firouz-Abadi had told the state-run Mehr news agency on April 23: “Our armed forces are completely ready to confront any kind of possible sedition and evil in the forthcoming elections.<\/p>\n
“Our armed forces are experienced forces. They have experienced the riots during the 2009 uprising, and they are fully acquainted with how to confront these kinds of dangers.<\/p>\n
“Our armed forces are not politically motivated. Their duty is to plan, prepare, guard and monitor all the places where trouble may start, and they are planning ahead for this now.”<\/p>\n
