{"id":13668,"date":"2013-05-11T18:53:56","date_gmt":"2013-05-11T17:53:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/13668-man-extradited-to-u-s-tried-to-parts-for-iranian-fighter-planes"},"modified":"2023-01-14T09:52:40","modified_gmt":"2023-01-14T08:52:40","slug":"man-extradited-to-u-s-tried-to-parts-for-iranian-fighter-planes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/man-extradited-to-u-s-tried-to-parts-for-iranian-fighter-planes\/","title":{"rendered":"Man extradited to U.S. tried to parts for Iranian fighter planes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"f-5\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-39821\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/04\/f-5.gif\" border=\"0\" style=\"margin: 5px;float: left\" width=\"333\" height=\"200\" \/>NCRI &#8211; The Iranian man extradited by Cyprus to the U.S. on suspicion of violating United Nations sanctions on the Iranian regime had tried to purchase F4 and F5 plane parts in the U.S. and send them illegally to Iran Cypriot newspapers reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian, named as Saeid Mohabat, 45 years old, was arrested after his arrival at Larnaca airport on Oct. 27, 2012, on a tip-off by Interpol.<\/p>\n<p>One newspaper said Mohabat was accused by American authorities of trying to purchase and send for the Iranian regime two pilot static tubes which measure air speed and help stabilize military planes.<\/p>\n<p>Alithia said Mohabat was communicating through email and satellite phone with an American who posed as the supplier but who actually was an undercover agent named as Vladimir Belgara, stationed in San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>Another newspaper said the Iranian regime&#8217;s embassy in Nicosia had asked to be handed Mohabat&#8217;s laptop but the request was turned down on the grounds that it was part of the evidence and should be handed to the American authorities along with the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Mohabat stayed in custody for about 40 days following the court decision before being handed to U.S. agents at the end of April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &ndash; The Iranian man extradited by Cyprus to the U.S. on suspicion of violating United Nations sanctions on the Iranian regime had tried to purchase F4 and F5 plane [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[19],"tags":[175],"class_list":["post-13668","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-terrorism-a-fundamentalism","tag-updated"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
