NCRI – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed the United Nations’ top envoy in Iraq as the new special representative in Congo and the head of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in the troubled central African nation, the Associated Press reported on Monday.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile independent Iraqi news agencies reported on Monday that Martin Kobler met with Iranian regime ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaie-far, who is also a member of the Iranian regime’s terrorist Quds Force.<\/p>\n
The reports said he had discussed the political and security developments in the region and Iraq with the UN envoy.<\/p>\n
The reports quoted him as saying that the Iranian regime had been involved in the strengthening of the democratic system in Iraq and its elected government as well as preventing the spill over of the Syrian crisis into Iraq.<\/p>\n
The Iranian regime ambassador had thanked Martin Kobler for his role in Iraq and presented him with a gift.<\/p>\n
But later UNAMI on June 10 issued a disclaimer statement saying it has been ‘informed through the media that a press release dated 10 May 2013, carrying the UN logo and UNAMI heading, announced that a meeting took place in Baghdad between the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Martin Kobler, and the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, Hasan Dana\u2019i Fer’.<\/p>\n
The statement added: \u201cUNAMI\u2019s spokesperson would like to bring to the attention of the media that the above mentioned press release is fake, and that the misuse of the UN logo is prohibited.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, the statement neither denied that a meeting had taken place nor denied the contents of the meeting which were published by Iranian regime’s media.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
