Carlson Endowed Chair, Univ. of\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">Rhode Island<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0spoke at the memorial organized by the National Council of Resistance of\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">Iran<\/span>-US Representative Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf impartial, transparent and full investigations had been carried after the four previous massacres, this would not have happened.\u00a0The\u00a0United States\u00a0and the United Nations bear clear and defined moral and legal responsibility for these deaths,\u201d underscored Ms. Samsami.<\/p>\n<p>Amir Emadi\u00a0whose father was killed by Maliki forces when shot to death in Ashraf medical clinic asked president Obama,\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong>When would America\u2019s written commitments once again mean something? Mr. President, if you want to stop Maliki\u2019s killings against the unarmed residents of Camp Liberty, you know how to do it; Keep your damn promise!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Secretary Ridge said that\u00a0the\u00a0United States\u00a0and the UN were to blame for this massacre:\u00a0 \u201cWe bear some of the responsibility in this country, though.\u00a0 We can\u2019t just put it on\u00a0Iran, on\u00a0Iraq\u00a0and on the U.N.\u00a0 Well, they\u2019ve been ineffective and feckless and I would say disingenuous is kind, but I think they actually lied to Madame Rajavi, they lied to the residents of Ashraf and Liberty and they\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">continue<\/span>\u00a0to lie to\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD10\" class=\"IL_AD\">this day<\/span>\u00a0and they have been indifferent to the plight of these patriots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6754779910367009\" data-ad-slot=\"3298467681\"><\/ins> <\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Now, why should it be our job to protect Ashraf, to deal with the Iranians, to deal with the Iraqis? Can\u2019t somebody else do it?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 If there is going to be an effective move to do what needs to be done in that part of the world with respect to the terrible governments of\u00a0Syria,\u00a0Iran,\u00a0Iraq\u00a0and the murderous activities of the Iranians Mullahs, we are going to have to do it. There is no out,\u201d Mr. Woolsey underlined.<\/p>\n<p>While calling for the immediate release of the seven hostages, Ambassador Reiss said, \u201cNot just words, but deeds are needed.\u00a0 We demand action by the White House, by\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD9\" class=\"IL_AD\">the State<\/span>\u00a0Department, by UNAMI to deploy Blue\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">Helmets<\/span>to Camp Liberty immediately, to our friends in\u00a0Europe\u00a0and to legislators in Congress to threaten real consequences in our bilateral relations unless the Maliki government takes immediate action to protect those who remain at Camp Liberty,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to punishing the penetrators and\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">securing<\/span>\u00a0the release of the seven captives, we must demand that\u00a0Iraqallow the necessary measures required to protect the MEK members remaining in\u00a0Iraq\u00a0at Camp Liberty. This includes the installation of the T-walls and the provisioning of individual protective gear and medical response capabilities. Most importantly, U.N.\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">monitors<\/span>\u00a0must be stationed inside the camp to deter the next assault. This deployment of UN Blue\u00a0Helmets\u00a0must be done on an urgent basis,\u201d emphasized Ambassador Joseph.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Professor Hughes condemned the Maliki government and the Iranian regime for this massacre: \u201cWe are here to bear witness to the murders carried out by Iraqi Prime Minister\u00a0Nouri al-Maliki\u2019s\u00a0militia on the orders of\u00a0Iran\u2019s\u00a0supreme religious leader, Ali Khamenei.\u00a0 We\u2019re here to insist that\u00a0the\u00a0United States\u00a0and the United Nations keep their promises to protect the remaining 3,000 people kept imprisoned at Camp Liberty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In rejecting the credibility of any Iraqi-led investigation, Col. Martin said, \u201cWe are still\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD11\" class=\"IL_AD\">waiting<\/span>\u00a0for the investigations concerning the two 2013 rocket attacks on Camp Liberty which left a total of ten dead.\u00a0 Asking a government behind the attacks to perform an impartial investigation and make those reports public equates to authorizing a cover-up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Col. Cantwell added, \u201cMy prayer today is that, we, America, fulfill our promise to act quickly and secure the over 3,000 people that we promised to protect at Camp Liberty, that we will act without ceasing to free the seven that are currently being held and then we need an international investigation that leads to the international criminal court and that the people who morally will suffer for eternity for the deeds that they did on that black day a week ago will live to face their day in court also.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pointing to the reasons why the Iranian regime carried out such a brazen massacre, Mr. Sano concluded, \u201cThey believe that they can do whatever they want.\u00a0 They can kill innocent civilians, men and women and thinking that this will intimidate the rest of the MEK.\u00a0 But they\u2019re mistaken.\u00a0 This will only make the MEK stronger.\u00a0 This will only further encourage not just the MEK, but the entire Iranian population, that it is time to move to
