{"id":14874,"date":"2013-10-09T13:35:16","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T12:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/14874-iran-prisoners-hanging-inhumane-punishments-continue"},"modified":"2023-01-15T14:49:36","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T13:49:36","slug":"iran-prisoners-hanging-inhumane-punishments-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/iran-prisoners-hanging-inhumane-punishments-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran: Prisoners hanging, inhumane punishments continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"iran-hanging-rope\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-40762\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/10\/iran-hanging-rope.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" style=\"float: left;margin: 5px\" \/>NCRI &#8211; The Iranian regime\u2019s judiciary in Tehran sentenced an imprisoned young worker on Monday to the heinous punishment of gouging eye and cutting off ear.<\/p>\n<p>Two days earlier, two prisoners, one the nephew of the other, were hanged in public in the city of Babol.<\/p>\n<p>Also from September 30 to October 3, 15 prisoners were hanged in the cities of Bandar-Abbas, Ardebil, Shiraz, Shahrekord, and Yazd.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the prisoners were hanged as a group in Yazd\u2019s prison and 6 of them, including two brothers, were hanged in the Ardebil prison on September 30 and October 2.<\/p>\n<p>During this period, in addition to thousands of prisoners who are awaiting execution, many more prisoners were sentenced to death.<\/p>\n<p>Sadeq Larijani, the head of regime\u2019s judiciary denied any claim of change regarding the state of political prisoners during Hassan Rouhani&#8217;s term.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cSome media have said that\u2026 the atmosphere has changed; yes, we agree that the atmosphere has changed but not for the conspirators.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fearing people\u2019s uprising, Larijani warned: \u201cThe conspirators must know that the atmosphere is by no means open for the conspirators, and the judiciary, tougher than before and tougher than its treatment of the conspiracy of 2009 [the 2009 uprising] is standing and if these conspirators want to come forward and start something of that nature or similar to the conspiracy of 2009 through their instigations or otherwise, they must know that judicial treatment is inevitable\u201d (State-run TV, Khabar Network, October 2)<\/p>\n<p>Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<br \/>October 8, 2013<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &ndash; The Iranian regime&rsquo;s judiciary in Tehran sentenced an imprisoned young worker on Monday to the heinous punishment of gouging eye and cutting off ear.
