{"id":16532,"date":"2014-05-15T11:48:27","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T10:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/16532-amnesty-international-brutality-at-evin-prison-must-be-investigated"},"modified":"2023-01-14T20:24:05","modified_gmt":"2023-01-14T19:24:05","slug":"amnesty-international-brutality-at-evin-prison-must-be-investigated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/amnesty-international-brutality-at-evin-prison-must-be-investigated\/","title":{"rendered":"Amnesty International:  Brutality at Evin Prison must be investigated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"evin-prison\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-41778\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/05\/evin-prison.jpg\" border=\"0\" style=\"float: left;margin: 5px\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>NCRI &#8211; &#8220;Political prisoners and prisoners of conscience at Section 350 of Iran\u2019s Evin prison were subjected to assault, beatings and other ill-treatment, with some of those injured denied access to adequate medical care,&#8221; according to a new briefing published by Amnesty International about the events of 17 April.<\/p>\n<p>The briefing\u00a0 tells how dozens of prisoners were met with unwarranted use of force by security officials after they demanded to be present during a monthly search of their cells.<br \/>\u00a0Prisoners were blindfolded and handcuffed before being shoved through a \u2018tunnel\u2019 formed of security officials carrying batons, who repeatedly struck them on their backs, heads and faces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity officials responded with an appalling level of brutality to the protest at Evin prison, beating prisoners, dragging them along the floor and verbally insulting them.
