They had been transferred to solitary confinement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Despite claims of moderation by Hassan Rouhani, the regime\u2019s president, there have been more executions over the past year compared with any other year in the past 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>More than 700 have been executed in Iran during 2013, two thirds of which occurred during Rouhani\u2019s tenure.<\/p>\n<p>The executions in cities across Iran is being carried out to intimidate an angry and disillusioned society that the mullahs have no other way to contain.<\/p>\n<p>The desire for change is pervasive in Iran, in particular among women, who are treated as second-class citizens, and youth (55 percent of Iranians are younger than 30), who have little hope that their desires will be met under the mullahs\u2019 rule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Iranian regime hangmen executed two prisoners on Saturday in central prison of city of Zahedan in southeast Iran.
