PARIS \u2013 \u201cThere is only one solution for Iraq, which is to oust Nouri al-Maliki, to evict the Iranian regime from Iraq, and to establish a democratic and inclusive government,\u201d said Maryam Rajavi, President-Elect of the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), said today in a keynote speech at the \u201cAll for Freedom\u201d international gathering of the Iranian Resistance at Villepinte, outside Paris.<\/p>\n
Maryam Rajavi said for the Iranian regime from day one, Iraq, has been its \u201clong sought dream\u201d and its \u201cmost important prey\u201d to \u201cexport its reactionary ideals and terrorism\u201d due to its geopolitical position. She said \u201cIt is only the Iranian regime that openly supports the continuation of Maliki\u2019s rule.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maryam Rajavi said Maliki and the Iranian regime are mischaracterizing the Iraqi rebellion as terrorism and actions of extremist groups. But the truth is that \u201ctribal leaders and the people of Iraq have for weeks repeatedly condemned any form of extremism and terrorism as well as any assault and aggression against civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cAll for Freedom\u201d event is sponsored by more than 300 associations around the world, representing a broad range of expatriate Iranians and supporters, from government officials, professionals, students and business men and women to human and women rights activists.<\/p>\n
It included the participation of more than 100 dignitaries and some 500 parliamentarians from the US, France, Europe, Canada, Australia, and Middle East participated in the event.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi also discussed Camp Liberty, the nuclear negotiations, and Hassan Rouhani\u2019s record since coming to power a year ago.<\/p>\n
Camp Liberty<\/p>\n
Maryam Rajavi Rajavi said the United States and the UN Secretary General have a unique responsibility to ensure the security, protection and safety of the refugees at Camp Liberty.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have repeatedly called on the United States to transfer the residents of Liberty to the US or a European country, even on a temporary basis,\u201d Maryam Rajavi Rajavi said. \u201cWe would pay for all expenses of such relocation.\u201d<\/p>\n
At a minimum, she said the US must \u201cprevent the Iraqi regime from carrying out any attack or aggression and imposing restrictions on the residents of Liberty.\u201d Additionally, \u201cIt must guarantee the security of Camp Liberty and work to end the inhumane siege against it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nuclear Negotiations<\/p>\n
Mrs. Rajavi said nuclear negotiations between Iran\u2019s mullahs and the P5+1 nations are \u201cfacing a strategic impasse.\u201d She said Iran\u2019s mullahs \u201cfear the internal and internal consequences of continuing the policy of acquiring nuclear weapons.\u201d At the same time, they \u201care worried of the internal reverberations of retreating from this policy and the crumbling of their regime.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the mullahs are taking advantage of the West\u2019s appeasement toward Iran in order to buy time and leave open the path of acquiring nuclear weapons.
Any agreement on nuclear issues in Iran must have the following provisions. Iran must:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Accept the Additional Protocol and snap inspections of all of its sites;
\u2022 Accept the unrestricted interviews with all those involved;
\u2022 Halt all the regime\u2019s nuclear sites and projects, including Arak, Natanz and Fordow;
\u2022 Hold the regime accountable for violations of human rights and genocide in Syria and Iraq, in parallel to the nuclear negotiations.
Rouhani\u2019s Record<\/p>\n
Mrs. Rajavi evaluated the record of Hassan Rouhani\u2019s first-year in power. She called Rouhani\u2019s \u201cmoderation\u201d in Iran \u201ca mirage\u201d and predicted the \u201cregime\u2019s crises will intensify.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of the regime\u2019s strategic reserves have been used and it is facing a lethal dead-end in all realms,\u201d Rajavi said.<\/p>\n
She said the force for change in Iran is neither the tug-of-war between the regime and the West regarding nuclear issues nor infighting between ruling factions within the regime. \u201cThe main battle has been, and is, between the Iranian people and their Resistance and the ruling theocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n
All in Freedom Gathering<\/p>\n
Mrs. Rajavi said the gathering today reflected the \u201cwill of the Iranian people from all walks of life, including political prisoners, for freedom and democracy.\u201d
\u201cThe time has come for the international community to stand with the Iranian people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Rajavi said change in Iran is inevitable but it would not come from within the mullah\u2019s regime, but through the Iranian people and their Resistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Iranian people want regime change and the Iranian Resistance is the guiding force,\u201d She said. \u201cThis Resistance is the main player in any serious and essential development in Iran. That is why the mullahs and attempting to delay their overthrow by increasing executions, massacring the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) in Ashraf and Camp Liberty, and resorting to deceptive propaganda.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Iranian Resistance seeks a republic based on separation of religion and state, gender equality, annulment of the death penalty, and a non-nuclear state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
