{"id":17188,"date":"2014-09-14T17:15:24","date_gmt":"2014-09-14T16:15:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/17188-plainclothes-patrols-suppress-women-and-youth-in-cities-across-iran"},"modified":"2023-01-14T22:44:03","modified_gmt":"2023-01-14T21:44:03","slug":"plainclothes-patrols-suppress-women-and-youth-in-cities-across-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/plainclothes-patrols-suppress-women-and-youth-in-cities-across-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Plainclothes patrols suppress women and youth in cities across Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"plainclothes-agents-iran-550\" class=\" size-full wp-image-42177\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/09\/plainclothes-agents-iran-550.jpg\" border=\"0\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto\" width=\"546\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/plainclothes-agents-iran-550.jpg 546w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/plainclothes-agents-iran-550-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NCRI &#8211; The clerical regime in Iran is intensifying suppression of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/women\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iranian women<\/a> and youth by patrolling in public places especially streets of Tehran under the pretext of &#8220;promotion of virtue and prevention of vice&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The head of \u201cAnsar-e-Hezbollah\u201d para-military force announced \u201cwidespread patrolling especially in Tehran to promote virtue and prevent vice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mission of these thugs is harassing people, especially women and young people under the pretext of &#8220;mal veiling&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The suppressive measures would be implemented across the country but would be in a higher scale and broader in Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>These groups already have began their activities in cities across Tehran, state-run ISNA reported.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They have began carrying out their mission in groups of ten of men and women in various parts of the city without their activities being covered by the press,&#8221; the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the formation of patrols, the commander of &#8220;Ansar-e-Hebollah&#8221;, Abdolhamid Mohtasham, acknowledged the widespread public hatred toward the regime and the Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC).<\/p>\n<p>He said &#8220;the weight of those people who are corrupts and their supporters has shifted against the religious people&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged that &#8220;despite nightly and daily attacks by enemies and hypocrites &#8230; we suppress those corrupted and their supporters and would remove them from the scene.&#8221; He warned: &#8220;If we don\u2019t tackle them, they will stand against Hezbollah.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ansar-e-Hebollah&#8221; is composed of hooligans and thugs who are IRGC members affiliated to IRGC&#8217;s Intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Known as plainclothes agents, they played an important role in suppressing the 2009 uprising of the people.
